Popular music streaming service Spotify will soon launch its services in India, along with other markets with massive opportunities including Russia and Africa. CEO Daniel Ek confirmed this during the live streaming of an investors pitch.
Ek said that these markets have a “very rich music taste” and that the diversity will add to the company’s growth significantly. Spotify’s marketing chief said that 36% of surveyed Indians knew about Spotify even though the service has not been launched in the country.
Spotify, while filing for the IPO, had disclosed that it bought office space in Mumbai last year and has a bunch of employees, without revealing the exact figure.
